In this particular case, SOS Band's "Too" I recommend to actually read the extensive liner note by Justin Kantor based on interviews with singers Mary Davis and Abdul Ra'oof to understand that a copy of the Mastertapes might not have been the panacea audiophiles are waiting for/5(6).

The later Jam & Lewis albums on show-cased Mary Davis and not the band itself an example of how the era of the band in R&B/Funk was dying. "Too" never got the credit it deserved as a fine example of musicianship and writing. This album deserves the accolades usually given to really good rock bands that write good lyrics and play good music/5(4).

Too, the S.O.S. Band's second album, does, in fact, find the Atlanta residents experiencing a bit of a sophomore slump. But "bit" is the operative word; Too is far from a disaster. While the S.O.S. Band's self-titled debut album of was superb, this follow-up is merely decent. And in that sense, the LP is somewhat of a disappointment.
